Die neu geschaffene Professur Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt Methodeninnovation befasst sich mit Phänomenen der Mediennutzung und Medienwirkung im sozialen Kontext. Von besonderem Interesse ist dabei die Anwendung der theoretischen Perspektive und des methodischen Instrumentariums der sozialen Netzwerkanalyse auf kommunikationswissenschaftliche Fragestellungen. Anwendungsfelder sind z.B. die Erforschung von verschiedenen Kommunikationsrollen (u.a. Meinungsführer) in On- und Offline-Netzwerken, Diffusionsprozesse von Technologien und Medieninhalten, kognitive Wissensnetzwerke, methodische Herausforderungen der angewandten Mediennutzungsforschung und die Evaluation von Kommunikationskampagnen.

Arbeitsschwerpunkte:

  • Mitarbeit in der Creative Unit „Kommunikative Figurationen“, einschließlich der Beantragung von Drittmittelprojekten

Position

California State University, Fullerton, seeks tenure-track faculty for Fall 2014 in Organizational Behavior with emphasis in either Leadership or Human Resource Management. Qualifications

The Department

The management department has 20 tenured and tenure-track faculty supplemented by several part-time and full-time adjunct faculty. [wochenbericht] DIW Berlin: Deutsches Steuersystem dämpft Effekte des Gender Pay Gaps

Brutto größer als Netto: Geschlechtsspezifische Lohnunterschiede unter Berücksichtigung von Steuern und Verteilung / Patricia Gallego Granados, Johannes Geyer

Trotz aller Initiativen zur Beseitigung des geschlechtsabhängigen Lohnunterschieds verdienen in Deutschland Männer weiterhin deutlich mehr als Frauen. Seit dem Jahr 2000 hat sich der sogenannte Gender Pay Gap in der Bundesrepublik nur um gut zwei Prozentpunkte reduziert, aktuell ist er damit der drittgrößte aller OECD-Staaten. Besonders deutlich wird die Lücke, die zwischen Männer- und Frauenlöhnen klafft, wenn man die Bruttomonatseinkommen betrachtet: In Westdeutschland erzielen Männer im Mittel ein um 62 Prozent höheres Bruttomonatseinkommen als Frauen. In Ostdeutschland liegt das Einkommen der Männer rund 22 Prozent höher. Männer verdienen also in Westdeutschland im Mittel gut eineinhalb Mal so viel wie Frauen. Ein Teil dieses Unterschiedes ist leicht zu erklären: Frauen arbeiten sehr viel häufiger in Teilzeit (Männer 18 Prozent, Frauen 52 Prozent) und im Niedriglohnsektor (61 Prozent aller Angestellten im Niedriglohnsektor sind weiblich). Ein erheblicher Teil der Lücke bleibt aber unerklärt und wird gemeinhin als Lohndiskriminierung von Frauen interpretiert. Betrachtet man nur diesen unerklärten Teil des Gender Pay Gaps über die gesamte Verteilung, also die verschiedenen Gehaltsklassen hinweg, so zeigt sich, dass der “diskriminierende” Unterschied wächst, je größer das Gehalt wird. Die meisten Studien zum Gender Pay Gap beschränken sich – wohl auch im Sinne einer besseren internationalen Vergleichbarkeit – auf die Bruttobetrachtung. Die vorliegende Studie untersucht darüber hinaus aber auch, wie sich der geschlechtsspezifische Lohnunterschied auf das verfügbare Einkommen, also die Nettoeinkommensposition auswirkt und zeigt, dass der Gender Pay Gap brutto erheblich größer ist als netto. Das deutsche Steuer- und Transfersystem reduziert also die Einkommenslücke zwischen Männern und Frauen. Allerdings ist dieser Effekt für Frauen in Westdeutschland wesentlich geringer. Zurückzuführen ist dies unter anderem auf das Ehegattensplitting.

Candidates must demonstrate ability to teach quantitative methods. Fields of specialization are open, but consideration will be given to those who can teach Supply Chain Management, Operations Management and other advanced management courses. Candidates with industry experience and a thorough understanding of technology and computer applications are encouraged to apply.

Elizabethtown College offers baccalaureate degrees in accounting, business administration, economics, and international business, all within a strong liberal-arts curriculum. The Department of Business is housed in the newly-constructed James B.
