Postdoc position on crowd work and quality of working life

A two-year position as a postdoc on crowd work and the quality of working life is available at the Department of Entrepreneurship and Relationship Management, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Sønderborg. The position is available from 1 August 2022 or as soon as possible after that.

The Department of Entrepreneurship and Relationship Management (IER) is a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment, where the abilities to form relationships and to work within teams are a historical and fundamental part of the department culture. The department has activities in Kolding, Sønderborg, and Slagelse with approx. 50 employees engaged in research and teaching in entrepreneurship, B2B marketing, supply chain management and business networks, and organization studies.

The postdoc will be affiliated with the Entrepreneurship and Organization research group, which is among the leading research groups in this area in Northern Europe. The research group focuses on four general themes: Nascent entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship, SME management and growth, and design and entrepreneurship. In addition, the postdoc will be affiliated with the Organizing Social Sustainability research program, an interdisciplinary research group focusing on standards and processes of organized fairness and inclusion within the frame of the sustainability paradigm. The position is within an externally funded project related to crowd work and quality of working life. The postdoc will be required to design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research and to present the findings in scientific outlets as well as to communicate to a practitioner audience. The research will be done in close collaboration with associate professor Simon Jebsen. The postdoc position is a research position, but some teaching may also be part of the workload.

It is a requirement for the position that the candidate has a Ph.D. degree within business, organization, management or associated fields of research as well as experience with designing and conducting qualitative research. As part of the funded project, the position requires at least 3 workdays a week on campus Sønderborg. Danish language skills and a general understanding of the industrial structure in Denmark are an advantage but not a requirement for the position.

The applicant should possess good interpersonal skills and be willing to engage in and contribute to the everyday academic and social environment at the department.

How to prepare a competitive Horizon Europe proposal

The aim of the workshop is to provide guidance for those wishing to develop proposals to Horizon Europe on good practices on how to prepare a competitive bid. A particular emphasis will be on how to address pathways to impact. We will also look at how to manage the preparation process so that it comes to fruition on time.

Real case examples will be used with the aim to make it as hands-on as possible.

Am 28.10. und am 03.11.2021 wird Frau Dipl.-Reg. Ingrid Gündisch an der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr im Rahmen des Doktorandenprogramms einen eintägigen Kurs “Stimm- und Sprechtraing” anbieten. Der Kurs richtet sich an Doktoranden aller Fakultäten.

Am 26. und 27.10.2021 wird Herr Dipl.-Ing. Claus Holm an der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg einen zweitägigen Crashkurs zum Projektmanagement anbieten. Herr Holm hat Maschinenbau und Berufspädagogik studiert und ist seit 2005 Geschäftsführer der pm/c projektmanagement & Consulting in Husum, verfügt also über langjährige Erfahrung in dem Feld. Dieses Angebot richtet sich an Angehörige aller Fakultäten, die sich thematisch in das Projektmanagement einarbeiten wollen. Aufgrund didaktischer Erwägungen und aufgrund der geltenden Corona-Auflagen ist die Zahl der Teilnehmenden auf 8 begrenzt.

ReMaT – Research management training for early-stage researchers

A ReMaT workshop – Research management online training for early-stage researchers – will take place on 21st and 22nd October 2021. The workshop is designed for early-stage researchers in engineering and natural sciences, particularly PhD candidates from the 2nd year onwards. The idea of European networking is very much embedded in the concept, and we encourage participation from many different countries at the workshop.

ReMaT is an interactive, intensive workshop providing an introduction to research management. It involves two international trainers and is held in English. The modules of the workshop cover exploitation of knowledge and entrepreneurship, acquisition of grants, intellectual property rights and the management of interdisciplinary projects. They are delivered in such a way that it challenges participants to consider different perspectives on how they might use their PhD education in a variety of career paths, and convince others to hire them.

CfA: “Causality in the Social Sciences III – Heterogeneous Causal Effects”

The workshop “Causality in the Social Sciences III – Heterogeneous Causal Effects” picks up on recent approaches and debates on causal effect heterogeneity from three different angles:

(i) Interpretation of heterogeneous effects,
(ii) estimating heterogeneous effects with observational and experimental data, and
(iii) machine learning techniques for specification search.

Confirmed keynote speakers are Jennie E. Brand (UCLA), and Richard Breen (Oxford University).
