Demographic research shows that the average age of the working population in most industrialised
countries is increasing considerably. At the same time, research observes a persistent trend towards
early retirement and a youth-centric HRM. This is despite government initiatives and EU legislation
that ban age discrimination and foster age neutral HR policies and practices.
