The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) – funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments – is a joint institution of the Department of History and the Department of Sociology at Bielefeld University (Germany). The Graduate School is a learning community of doctoral researchers and invites applications for
9 doctoral positions
with a maximum duration of 3.5 years, starting 1 April 2013.
Description: We are seeking highly motivated researchers with genuine interest in an academic environment that fosters creativity through interdisciplinary exchange. Successful candidates are expected to conduct research within the doctoral programme, and in the end receive the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in history or sociology. The graduate school promotes research in the fields of sociology, history, political sciences and social anthropology.
Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in sociology, history, political sciences or social anthropology, applications from related disciplines are welcome. All information on the application process and the evaluation procedure can be found at:
