What to expect:

The Department of Management is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure track) position in the area of Human Resource Management (HRM), Careers, and Organizational Behavior. The successful candidate will be expected to cultivate a strong research profile in HRM, careers, and Organizational Behavior, with special focus on international, in particular international comparative aspects, as well as demonstrate teaching excellence in these areas. A strong research profile includes an active program of research (research pipeline), publishing in top-tier journals, and collaborating with members of international academic community. The successful candidate is further expected to show an active commitment to professional and Department service (academic-self-government), and junior faculty development, for example by serving on Editorial Boards, supervising Bachelor and Master theses, and organizing research seminars, conferences and PDWs. The successful candidate is also expected to teach at all program levels and to actively support efforts to acquire third-party funding. He/she should actively contribute to administration and to the development of the ivm institute. We particularly welcome applications from scholars who engage in Third Mission activities.

What you have to offer:

  • a PhD degree (or equivalent) in management, business studies, or social science.
  • a track record of research excellence in management, specifically in the area of Human Resource Management (HRM), Careers, and Organizational Behavior with special focus on international, in particular international comparative aspects
  • a strong portfolio of publications in top-tier academic journals such as those on the WU Star List and the Department of Management A+ list that is commensurate with academic age
  • in-depth knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • a strong pipeline (papers in progress and under review) that is commensurate with academic age that demonstrates potential for continued publication in leading academic journals (see in particular WU Star List and Department of Management A+ List)
  • active involvement in the international academic community, including presentations at high ranking international academic conferences (see in particular WU Department of Management conference list) and well-ranked universities, collaborations with faculty outside ones current country, and positions at universities abroad.
  • a strong commitment to, and record of, teaching excellence at both the Master’s and Bachelor’s levels and an ability to teach both in English and German language
  • experience in organizing research seminars, international workshops and conferences, and other research development initiatives
  • a solid track record of professional service, such as (co-)organizing conferences and workshops, serving on Editorial Boards, reviewing for leading international journals, and mentoring junior faculty development workshops
  • a strong commitment to collegiality and service, e.g., proven track record of organizing and participating in department-related activities and events, helping to cultivate international research networks, and enhancing the international visibility of the department/university where the candidate has been employed
  • proven international academic experience, i.e. a PhD from a non-Austrian university or at least one year of academic work experience as a post-doctoral researcher outside of Austria
  • Evidence of Third Mission engagement
