University of California: Multiple positions in the Management Area (Open Rank)

Subject to final approval, the School of Business Administration at the University of California, Riverside, invites applications for two faculty positions (Open Rank) in the Management discipline to begin July 1, 2014. Our priority is to recruit at the Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor levels, however, other ranks will also be considered. We seek candidates with strong research training who have achieved, or have the potential to achieve, outstanding accomplishments and scholarly distinction in their area of research. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Management or a related field and demonstrate a strong record of, and continuing potential for, quality research and teaching. Candidates are expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The Department of Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Business, with a preference for a specialization in one of the following areas: corporate social responsibility, sustainability, international business, rural business, and entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary department of more than twenty faculty members and will teach in the Bachelors of Management program with a stream in Business Economics. Applicants should possess (or be near completion of) an earned doctorate in Business or a related field.

Applicants should be interested in the continuing development of a teaching-oriented Management program and must possess a strong record of scholarly research and publications or demonstrate evidence of potential in these areas (e.g. a stream of work-in-progress that has the potential to yield publications in refereed journals). The successful candidate will maintain a strong research program in core management areas and will have experience/expertise to teach undergraduate courses in these aforementioned areas.

Oakland University: Assistant Professor of Management

The School of Business Administration at Oakland University is recruiting a faculty member to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate and graduate level courses in Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management and maintain a high-quality of research and service activities appropriate to the position beginning August 2014, pending funding. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, Labor and Industrial Relations, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or equivalent degree. WASEDA Business School (WBS) at WASEDA University in Tokyo, Japan is recruiting a fixed-term faculty member for a contract period of three years.

1. Number of positions and type: One position for a person who is competent to take charge of courses related to Business Administration). Rank (professor, associate professor or assistant professor) will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experiences.

2. Commencement of the employment contract: April 1, 2014

3. Contract period: Three years.

4. Salary and benefits: In accordance with the salary scales used by WASEDA University.

5. Content of work:

(1) The standard teaching load is 4/4. (A course [or koma] meets once per week for 90-minutes. There are 15 weeks in a semester.):
a) Courses conducted in English in the MBA Program of WASEDA Business School. If the applicant is fluent in Japanese, then he/she may be requested to take charge of courses offered in Japanese, too.
b) Number of courses: in principle, four per semester.

(2) Participating in other educational and research activities at WBS.

(3) Participating in activities of the WASEDA Business School Research Center.

6. Required qualifications: He/she must be able to deliver courses in English. Additionally, the prospective applicant is required to meet either of the two qualifications indicated below.

(1) Has obtained a doctoral degree in business administration or related field at the time of application.

(2) Will obtain a doctoral degree in business administration or related field by the end of March 2014.

12. Information about WASEDA Business School:

PhD Fellowship in national minorities at the Department of Border Region Studies

The Department of Border Region Studies in Sønderborg invites applications for a PhD Research Fellowship on National minorities and minority-majority interaction in the Danish-German border-region after 1955. The project is to be seen in a European perspective.

The fellowship is relevant for master students with strong aspirations to get a PhD degreee in studies in border regions and national minorities. Accordingly, it is expected that the successful applicant has a master degree in a field within the humanities or the social sciences. Ability to read and understand Danish and German is demanded.

The Department of Border Region Studies is located in Sønderborg, Denmark, and rooted in the unique history of the Southern Danish border region. It has lively relationships with the business community and the cultural institutions of the region. The department constitutes an interdisciplinary unit with scholars being organised around three research groups focusing on business administration, regional economics, and people and society in border regions. The department offers teaching at all levels within European Studies, Regional Economics and Business Administration. There are approximately 800 students from about 50 countries enrolled at the department.

The successful applicant will participate in research and dissemination activities. The student will be enrolled in the relevant PhD programme at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). As part of the PhD study, an individual education programme within the relevant discipline of the candidate has to be completed. You will be expected to complete a six-month stay at a research institution abroad and/or at a project partner, and over the period of the programme, to acquire experience of teaching or dissemination activities. You are also expected to participate in the various activities at the department and – apart from your stay abroad – to be regularly present at the department.
