Die Aufgabe des Stelleninhabers/der Stelleninhaberin ist die Bearbeitung eines Forschungsprojekts zur Wissenschaftskommunikation im Internet und deren Auswirkungen auf das Wissenschaftssystem. Dieses Projekt ist im Themenfeld „Internet und Gesellschaft“ des Verbundprojektes „Digital Humanities“ angesiedelt. Bei der empirischen Durchführung sollen Methoden der sozialen Netzwerkanalyse angewandt werden, die Daten aus dem Internet nutzen. Von der Mitarbeiterin / dem Mitarbeiter wird auch die selbständige Weiterentwicklung der Methoden erwartet. Zu den Aufgaben gehört es weiterhin, sich aktiv an der interdisziplinären Methodenentwicklung und an der Konzeption von Lehrveranstaltungen im Rahmen des GCDH zu beteiligen. Erwartet wird Kooperationsbereitschaft und die Fähigkeit zu interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit.

Einstellungsvoraussetzungen: abgeschlossene wissenschaftliche Hochschulbildung und Promotion im Fach Soziologie oder einem benachbarten Fachgebiet; Forschungserfahrung im Bereich der Internet- und/oder Wissenschaftskommunikation; ausgewiesene Kenntnisse und Erfahrungen mit Methoden der sozialen Netzwerkanalyse, ein hohes Maß an Selbständigkeit, Eigenverantwortung und Teamorientiertheit. Erfahrungen in interdisziplinären und internationalen Projekten wären vorteilhaft, sind jedoch keine Voraussetzung.

Das Verbundprojekt „Digital Humanities“ ist ein gemeinsames Vorhaben der im „Göttinger Center für Digital Humanities“ (GCDH) zusammengeschlossenen Fakultäten und Einrichtungen der Universität Göttingen, des Max Planck Instituts, der Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen und der Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel. In fächerübergreifende Kooperation werden hier neue computer- und internetbasierte Forschungsmethoden für die Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften entwickelt. Ziel ist der Aufbau des GCDH zu einem international anerkannten Kompetenzzentrum.

Bei erfolgreicher Evaluation und Antragstellung ist eine Projektfortführung um weitere drei Jahre angestrebt.

Voraussetzungen für:
ein Grundstipendium mit einer Dauer von bis zu zwei Jahren:

• weit überdurchschnittliche Studien- und Prüfungsleistungen,
• Beginn der Förderung spätestens ein Jahr nach Abschluss des Hochschulstudiums,

ein Abschlussstipendium mit einer Dauer von bis zu einem Jahr:

Profile

“Europe of Regions” has become an increasingly fashionable way to describe European integration, but politicians, businesses and civil society usually do not have a clear picture of what “Europe of Regions” actually means. The aim of the Sønderborg profile in the European Studies program offered in cooperation with the University of Flensburg is to make the students familiar with ‘regions’ in the broadest sense, using historical, cultural, political, administrative and economical approaches to the term ‘region’ and illustrate the concept within European integration. The program includes a sophisticated course of qualitative social science methods. A special focus will be put on borders and border regions. Borders still represent barriers to integration, and border regions are laboratories of European integration.

A special feature of the study program is the opportunity to take electives at the University of Flensburg in the third semester, including the possibility to earn a dual degree. Other options are to specialize by taking electives within the other master programs offered at the Department of Border Region Studies in Sønderborg, or take a company/institution internship or study abroad.

The master programme European Studies (two years) is offered in co-operation with the University of Flensburg. All classes are taught in English. In the first year, you have to choose between two tracks: a track offered in Sønderborg focussing on the popular concept of the “Europe of Regions”, where you will be introduced to regions in an interdisciplinary program with a special focus on borders and border regions as laboratories of European integration. A track offered at the University of Flensburg focuses on more general aspects of European integration. In the third semester, students choose electives from either campus to specialise according to their interests. The master thesis is written at SDU in the fourth semester.

The Berlin Aging Study II (BASE-II) is a joint project of the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, the Max Planck Institute of Human Development, the University of Tübingen, the Geriatrics Research Group at Charité Hospital in Berlin, and DIW Berlin, and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The subprojects of the Berlin Aging Study that are based in the Socio-Economic Panel at DIW Berlin deal with survey methodological questions of data quality and health economics analysis.

For the BASE II Study, DIW Berlin is seeking to fill the following positions immediately:

One Postdoc or Research Associate (in the field of health economics / labor economics)

Tasks:

• Independent analysis of subjective and objective health measures
• Participation in research-based projects in health economics

Requirements:

• Qualified bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics with a focus on empirical research, ideally with a completed doctoral degree
• Interest in providing research-based policy advice
• Outstanding knowledge of quantitative empirical social research methods (experience using panel data is advantageous)
• Good teaching skills and an interest in interdisciplinary cooperation
• Research experience abroad; good command of written and spoken English
